Resize images
Make photos smaller – for email, websites or forms. Several at once, without uploading.
In your account, directly with your SafeDoc files: Pick photos straight from SafeDoc and save the smaller versions right back.
What it is good for
Phone photos are often 4 to 12 MB. That is too much for an email, an application portal or a website. With a smaller edge length and WebP or JPEG they usually shrink to a few hundred kilobytes.
- Limit the longest edge: the aspect ratio stays, images are never enlarged.
- Choose a format: WebP, JPEG or PNG.
- Several images at once, each downloaded separately.
Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded?
No. The tool converts the images in your browser. They are neither sent to us nor stored. When you close the page, the results are gone.
Which format should I choose?
WebP is usually the smallest for photos and is shown by all current browsers. JPEG fits when a program or form only accepts JPEG. PNG is lossless and suits graphics and screenshots, but gets large for photos.
What size makes sense?
For email and messengers 1,280 pixels on the longest edge are usually enough, for a website 1,920 pixels. For printing you are better off keeping the original size.
Is quality lost?
Making an image smaller removes pixels – that is the nature of it. For JPEG and WebP the quality slider decides how strongly it is compressed; around 80 % the difference is hard to see in photos. The original on your device stays unchanged.
Are camera and location details kept?
No. When saving again, the browser does not write EXIF details – including the location. If you only want to remove metadata without resizing, use the "Remove location from photos" tool.
