How to get started with Business
Five steps from the first sign-up to a shared team folder – once Business can be booked. No IT department and no installation required.
- Create an account and confirm your email address – free, without payment details.
- In the dashboard go to Teams on the left and create an organisation, for example "Example Ltd". You automatically become the owner.
- Invite colleagues: enter the email address, choose a role, send. The invitation is valid for 7 days.
- Form teams ("Sales", "Projects") and share folders with the right team to view or edit.
- Move your files: upload folder by folder. Large files go in parts; you see the progress in the upload list.
Data protection that fits your company
If your company stores files with personal data in SafeDoc – such as applications, customer lists or payroll documents – we process them on your behalf. You remain the controller, we are the processor. That is what the data processing agreement (DPA) under Art. 28 GDPR is for.
What you need for your records
- Location: Files and database are stored in data centres in Germany. Backups are also planned for Germany; they are being set up right now.
- Sub-processors: hosting, payment processing and email delivery – the list is in our privacy policy.
- Technical and organisational measures: described on the security page.
- Deletion: deleted items stay in the trash for 30 days and are then removed for good, in storage too.

Questions from businesses
How many people can an organisation have?
We do not state a fixed upper limit here. Billing is per seat, meaning per person in the organisation. For very large teams, talk to us first.
Does everyone share the storage?
Yes. The storage per seat is pooled into one shared storage for the organisation. It grows when someone joins and shrinks when someone leaves.
What happens to files when someone leaves the team?
Files in the organisation storage belong to the organisation, not to the person. They stay there when someone leaves or is removed.
Is there a data processing agreement?
Yes. For businesses we provide a data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR. This is guidance, not legal advice.
Do we get invoices with VAT shown?
Yes. The Business plans are net prices; VAT is shown separately on the invoice.
Can we try SafeDoc first?
Yes. You can create a free account with 5 GB today and use it to upload files and share them with people. Organisations with teams and roles can be created once the Business plans can be booked.
Can a member share files publicly?
No. In an organisation, only owners and admins may create public links. That way nobody can accidentally put a company folder on the internet.
