Yes, in every paid plan from Plus – even as an individual. You conclude it in your account under Settings → Agreements. You need it as soon as you store your clients' data (Art. 28 GDPR). The free plan is meant for private use.

That is what we are building SafeDoc for. In addition to the DPA there is a confidentiality agreement under Section 203 of the German Criminal Code. It can be concluded from launch – before that, we bind everyone involved in our service to confidentiality in writing. You can already read the wording.

The Free plan with 5 GB is free forever. Paid plans offer more storage and extra features, billed monthly or yearly – current prices are on the pricing page.

Files and database are stored in data centres in Germany. Backups are also planned for Germany; they are being set up right now. For payments and email delivery we use external providers – which ones and where they operate is listed openly in our privacy policy.

That depends mostly on photos and videos. As a rule of thumb, a phone photo takes about 4 MB and one minute of Full HD video about 100 MB. The storage calculator on the pricing page estimates your need and names the smallest plan that fits.

Depending on your plan, up to 100 GB per file, up to 2 GB on the free account. Large files are sent in parts; if a part fails, SafeDoc sends it again as long as the browser tab stays open.

Yes. Deleted files stay in the trash for 30 days on every plan. Older versions of a file are kept 30 days on Plus, 90 days on Pro, Familie, Business and Business Pro. Both count towards your storage.

Regular files are encrypted in transit and kept in private storage. Technically they are accessible to operations, but access is strictly limited and logged. For files nobody else should ever see, use the private vault with encryption on your device – in beta, the encryption has not yet been externally reviewed.

Yes, using the cancel button in your account. You can still download your files afterwards.

No. SafeDoc runs in the browser on computer, tablet and phone. On your phone you can add SafeDoc to the home screen like an app.

Every link is a long, random address. From the Plus plan you can set a password, an expiry date and a maximum number of downloads. You can see how often a link was opened and delete it at any time.

Your files stay fully intact and can still be opened and downloaded. Only new uploads are paused until you free up space or choose a larger plan.

No. If you are over your storage limit or a payment is open, all files stay and you can still view, download and export them – only new uploads pause. If we block an account, you can sign in, see the reason and download a data package for at least 90 days (except blocks for abuse – then via support). We do not delete inactive accounts either.

Once the paid plans can be booked: You can try Pro for 14 days for free. Before it ends we remind you by email. If you do not cancel, the trial turns into a paid subscription – you see the price before you start.
